Energy obtained from biogas is listed among the renewable energy sources in DIRECTIVE (EU) 2018\/2001 (art. 2, point 1), which expressly promotes its use. This recast directive establishes, among other things, a stable and market-oriented European approach for renewable electricity and strengthens the EU sustainability criteria for bioenergy.<\/div>\n

Biogas is a sustainable energy source that is obtained from agricultural biomass, agro-industrial waste and organic waste, without producing further CO2 emissions, and as a renewable and sustainable energy source, it can contribute to the energy transition and energy independence.<\/div>\n

In fact, the captured biogas, being characterized by good percentages of methane by volume, can be sent for energy recovery for the production of electricity and\/or thermal energy, but also used for the production of biofuels.<\/div>\n

We can therefore affirm that, by increasing the collection efficiency of traditional systems usually installed in landfills, we can contribute to increasing the level of energy savings in landfills, and not only.<\/div>\n

Today, innovative automation systems for biogas collection are available on the market that have the function of optimizing the efficiency of the entire collection system present in the landfill, acting as the “mind\/brain” of the process.<\/div>\n
